An international study involving Cajal Institute researchers Marta Navarrete and Alfonso Araque, together with Caitlin Durkee and Paulo Kofuji, from the Department of Neuroscience at the University of Minnesota, recently published in the prestigious journal Trends in Neurosciences (TINS), examines the involvement of astrocytes in long-term depression (LTD), determining that it is a central form of synaptic plasticity.

A study led by researchers from the Cajal Institute and CIBERNED, in collaboration with the Pablo de Olavide University, has shown that the presence of the dopamine D2 receptor in hippocampal neurons is necessary for dopamine to modulate the synaptic changes responsible for memory.

The exhibition, carried out in collaboration with the Cajal Institute, has 120 meters in which key pieces of his legacy are exhibited, such as the diploma and medal of the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine, awarded in 1906. The exhibition is completed with objects from the scientific archives of his main disciples.
