RESEARCH

The purpose of theCajal Institute Transparency Program is to make known why and how experimental animals are used in neuroscientific research , and how the principles of the 3 R's (reduction, refinement and replacement) eare applied at the Cajal Institute, in accordance with the Document of the Confederation of Scientific Societies of Spain (COSCE) on the use of animals in scientific research and the Transparency Agreement on the use of animals in scientific experimentation in Spain.

Disclosure, transparency and accountability

To advance in the development and fulfillment of the commitments subscribed in the Transparency Agreement on the use of animals in scientific experimentation, in 2018 the Cajal Institute launched its Transparency Program, regularly organizing since then outreach activities, talks and communicative actions aimed at all types of people and groups, in which images and videos of the scientific activity carried out with animal models are exhibited and basic explanations are provided to raise awareness of the principles mentioned above, in addition to addressing the queries and concerns of the participants.
